almost ten years ago
The sun's warm rays of light shined downward on a short woman and her small child as they walked along the sidewalk. The child's name was five year old Rakutsu Hayasa with his mother Azumi. The two had just returned from the temple that he grew up in for five years before leave to return to his mother's hometown. The child wasn't going to live there forever and had to lead a normal life. This meant going to nursery school like the other kids his age.
The two walked before coming to a small building that had other parents with small children with them. Soon they all left as their children when with the woman who would be watching them for a few hours. The only one left was Rakutsu's own mother Azumi. She was about to leave before he saw him almost at tears at the sight of her leaving him to be left alone with a complete stranger. This was expected of a child as she when over to him and got on his level.
"I might not be back on time, but I will be back can you wait for me."
He still look upset, but at least she was coming back. After all she was his mom.
"Ok."
She then left him with the older woman as she left for work at the hospital.
The fragile boy was now all alone with people he didn't know. To be honest he was scared. The older woman who would watch over him for a few hours held her hand out for him to grab. Which he did, but slowly and hesitantly. Once he grabbed on she would lead him into the class with the other kids. The room was filled with children his age with tables around the sides of the room which gave a big open space in the middle to play.
He scanned the room with his blue eyes as he saw a girl his own age and blushed seeing how cute she was including with her black hair covering her left red eye. She was playing with building blocks all alone as she made a tower out of them. A bigger boy ran over and knocked it down with a roar before running off. The girl would begin to cry with tears flowing down her eyes. The sight made Raku feel something in him go snap and decided to take action. He when over to the blocks and would begin to rebuild the tower she build. The tears stopped and she calmed down once she saw him rebuilding her tower.
He was half way done before a second boy came up and helped him do the work much faster leaving a much shock Rakutsu. Before he can respond the brown haired boy shot up in joy as the tower was rebuild.
"TADA we did it!"
The very excited boy begun to dance around the two leaving them confused, but that confusion turned to laughter at his funny dancing. The dancing stopped as he turned to Raku.
"Hi I'm Akihiko I'm six and a half years old who are you?"
He asked Raku as he stopped his laughing.
"I'm Rakutsu and I'm....five."
The girl soon got up and sat next to Rakutsu as her tears were no more and a bright smile was on her face.
"I'm Yuki and we're the same age Raku."
Rakutsu turned to Yuki with a confused look at the nickname.
"Raku?"
"SO COOL it's a awsome nickname."
Ya know Akihiko was right it was pretty cool. It made Raku even happier, but he didn't notice that his tail started acting up as it poped out of his pants in full view. Once Yuki saw this she gasped as she ran behind Akihiko who was more surprised then scared. Raku was just as surprised as Akihiko was before he tried to calm her down.
"I...I'm sorry it just-"
"THATS EVEN COOLER!"
Akihiko interrupted Raku as she ran to see his tail in full up closer while asking Raku a number of questions like how he got it and such. All of them ended with the same "I don't know," answer. Thankfully Yuki stopped being scarred as she got back next to Raku. Time would go on and the three had fun playing together that day.
Every kid left with their parent leaving Raku sitting in the front of the building with the caretaker. It was getting late and mom wasn't even there. His mood was about to change again, but thankfully his mom rushed through the gate huffing and puffing from all the running she was doing.
"I'm HERE sorry I'm late."
Raku rushed over to her as the two left for home as she asked him a important question.
"Did you make a friend today hon?"
He answered with a soft nod and a warm smile. They were going to be the best of friends.
